Cori Bush and St. Louis residents show up to Forest Park on St. Patrick’s Day weekend to support Palestine

Instead of going to the St. Patrick’s day parade that a lot of St. Louis residents did on Saturday, March 15th, around 40 people showed up in Forest Park near the Jewel Box to have a gathering to discuss the ongoing war crimes, and a vigil for those that have been lost to the ongoing war crimes committed by Israel in Palestine. Amongst the speakers was former Missouri US House of Representative, Cori Bush.

Bush was the first black woman to serve in the US House of Representatives from the state of Missouri. She served in the role from January 3rd, 2021-January 3rd, 2025 when she was defeated by former Missouri Prosecuting attorney, Wesley Bell in the August election. Bell was controversially funded by the American Israel Public Affairs Committee after Bush was very critical of Israel’s attacks of Palestine that have been responsible for around 46,000 deaths in the region.

This was Cori Bush’s first appearance at a St. Louis demonstration since her defeat in August of 2024. During her speech, Bush told the crowd “I will never put one group of people over another group of people, but what I will do, if there is one group of people that is hurting more and differently than another group that needs some help and extra attention, then I’m going to speak up and speak out, and be very clear about what we need for that group of people, because when you don’t say it, people won’t move.” which follows up on her promise to still stay active and fight for a better world after her time in the house of representatives came to an end.

Other speakers besides Cori Bush were Michael Berg, and a young Mizzou activist that a sadly can’t find the name of at the moment. If anyone that reads this knows here name, please send it to me sethdonovan122@gmail.com, so I can add more to this story.

Listening to Michael Berg speak, a member of the crowd focuses on him as he spoke to the crowd about the donations from AIPAC that Wesley Bell received, and other things.

As said in the big text, please help me find this girl’s name, so I can add more to this story later on. I don’t want to add more to this story without her name since she was a huge part of the vigil.

Quietly listening to a speaker speak, Cori Bush stands amongst the crowd. Bush was a member of “The Squad” during her time in politics, “the squad” was notable for their new wave of progressive views in the democratic party.
